My name is Melissa Lawson and I am the owner of First Response First Aid & CPR Training here in Winnipeg, MB. I am a licensed CPR & First Aid Instructor for the Heart and Stroke Foundation specializing in all levels and ages of training.

*I'm also approved by the WSH Branch of the Manitoba Government as a WSH Approved Training Provider.

What sets me apart from all other facilities?
I am one of only a couple of instructors who actually work in the field. I am an advanced care paramedic.

My courses are taught in a timely fashion to make sure that the training is extensive and that your employees are back to work quickly. I am mobile, so I am available to come to your facility to offer training on-site! If coming to your facility does not work I also have a location to offer off-site training as well.

I specifically teach companies that need CPR certification and training to meet licensure standards.

Option #1

CPR Level C/AED

This course is designed for those seeking training due to work requirements and/or wanting to respond appropriately and quickly to emergency situations that may arise.

  • How high-quality CPR improves survival

An ideal course for police, firefighters, lifeguards, school teachers, chiropractors, massage therapists and construction employees certified by COR and CSAM.

Option #2

Emergency First Aid & CPR Training Level C (Level 1)

This is a fast-paced and extensive 1-day course that delivers proven methods for providing basic, urgent assistance to injured or ill adults, children and infants.

Through a combination of instruction, demonstration, and hands-on practice, participants will learn how to determine the severity of a patient's condition and practice safe intervention when providing them with emergency support.

This course is aimed at lay rescuers or employees who are required to receive 8 hours or less of emergency or basic first aid instruction/practice as stipulated by provincial or federal health & safety regulations.

Option #3

Standard First Aid & CPR Training (Level 2)

A comprehensive program designed to teach you essential skills to effectively respond to medical emergencies in the workplace, home, or other settings.

This course is designed to meet provincial workplace regulatory requirements including responding to airway, breathing and circulation emergencies for adults, children and infants.

This course also includes control of bleeding, shock, stabilizing fractures and dislocations, head and spine injuries, and more.

This course is ideal for everyday people who want to be prepared for the unexpected.

Option #4

Basic Life Support

A foundational course for healthcare professionals and trained first responders who provide care to patients in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings.

  • Chain of Survival
  • 1-rescuer / 2-rescuer CPR
  • High-quality chest compressions with a feedback device
  • Multi-rescuer team CPR
  • Adult, Child and Infant CPR and relief of choking
  • Use of an AED
  • Effective ventilations using a barrier device and bag-mask device
  • Opioid-associated life-threatening emergencies
